My fiance, John, was hit by an eighteen year old drunk driver on Tuesday evening. He was running on the sidewalk of one of the busiest streets of our little college town, University. The kid who hit him was driving a red Mustang, and popped the curb doing at least 50+ mph. He flattened three of his tires. John jumped out of the way, and wasn't really hurt (thank god), but the kid driving didn't bother to check if he was even okay. He drove to the Pan Am's parking lot to change a tire and leave the scene completely, but didn't have a chance because the cops showed up.
I hate New Mexico because of things just like this. 6:30 on a Tuesday evening and an eighteen year old is already plastered enough to nearly kill someone and leave the scene of an accident.
...from HELL!
Okay, not really. Though it has been an interesting few days. I don't have enough time at the moment to write a lengthy post about the trip to Michigan, meeting the family, the 4th of July celebrations, etc etc.
Here's the highlights:
- Screaming children on flight from Dallas to Detroit -- always a fan favorite.
- Martinis galore.
- Karaoke Revolution -- that's right, we had some Total Eclipse of the Heart going on.
- Flight from Detroit to Dallas being delayed three times.
- Flight from Dallas to El Paso being delayed three times -- they canceled the other two flights from Dallas due to the weather, so thank god we were on the correct flight. Else, I'd probably have stayed the night (or two).
- John got hit by a red Mustang on University on Tuesday evening while he was running.
- Major drama at 4th of July celebrations.
Tomorrow morning I go to Michigan.
Wish me luck, and that my plane doesn't crash. And that I'm not sitting near screaming infants. Or any screaming children. Screamers in general.
w00t.
What was your worst hairstyle decision ever?
Oooh, this one is easy. I decided that I would do the whole light-on-top, dark-on-bottom look that I had seen on many camgirls (ahem, sacred.nu) of days past. However, what I failed to realize was that this look was not going to be a good decision for me.
And it wasn't. The stylist told me to achieve this look "properly" that she would darken 90% of my hair to a much darker auburn than I really am. And then she bleached 10% of my hair to a nice yellowy-blonde. Not one of my favorite colors, but.. anyhow. It looked okay if my hair was down and styled correctly. However, I worked for a pizza place where we had to tie our hair back.
The ending result was what some affectionately called "skunk hair." Not a good 'do. Check out my flickr for proof.
- If you get the first choice of Monopoly tokens, which do you
choose?
- If someone else chooses it first, which is your second choice? I choose the dog! Always! And after that, I usually try to get the car.
- What’s a board game you are especially bad at?
Scrabble. Because scrabble sucks and I cannot be verbose offline and on the fly. - What board game are you particularly good at?
Candy Land? Okay, I think everyone is probably really good at Candy Land. Actually, this might be a cop-out, but I am fabulously evil when it comes to Monopoly. I like being the Realtor. And being all, "MUAHAHAHA!! Your life belongs to me, thanks to my 15 hotels on Boardwalk!" It ends up becoming that one side of the board is certain death to any other player, so I guess one could call it "walking the plank" of Monopoly if you land on one of my properties... - How competitive do you get while playing board games or party games?
So competitive that my own family members won't play with me anymore. Occasionally I can trick my fiance into playing Monopoly. I tend to stick to Spider Solitaire, RollerCoaster Tycoon, Masters of Orion 2, etc. I like simple, old-school computer games. - What’s your favorite board game? What’s a board game you can’t stand?
This is getting pretty redundant. My favorite game is Monopoly, because I'm good at it. My least favorite game is Scrabble, because I'm terrible at it.
So, a week from friday I'll be going on vacation!! Woo hoo!
It's my fiance's father's 50th birthday, so we're getting flown up to Michigan to celebrate. And so is the rest of his family. Slightly intimidating, but it should be fun nonetheless. I guess we're also going to get to go to some amusement park up there on that Sunday. Not a bad pre-4th-of-July celebration, I do say.
I'm excited! So excited that I might use multiple exclamation points!!!!1one

Ridiculous.
After all the recent season and series finales, what are you watching on TV these days?
I watch Bitch House. Okay, so the real name of the show is "The Bad Girls Club," on Oxygen. I realize it's a chick channel (a la Lifetime), but this show is about crazy women getting drunk and doing insane things, all while being incredibly catty and mean. It's awesome.
I have also been watching The Hills (on MTV), but it's season finale was quite some time ago, so I am lonely and sad. I used to watch Sex & The City, Oz, etc.. pretty much anything HBO showed. Unfortunately, due to my lack of HBO I did not get to see the last half of The Sopranos this season, so I have been avoiding anything on TV or the web regarding it. It's a tough life, I tell you.
I also watch Scrubs religiously. Because it's funny, even though I've seen the same 30 episodes over and over and over.
What are your top 10 most-played songs currently?
I am a super loser.
1. Pussycat Dolls - Buttons
2. Fall Out Boy - Thnks Fr The Mmrs
3. The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus - Face Down
4. Me First & The Gimme Gimmes - It's Raining on Prom Night
5. Ne-Yo - Because of You
6. Carrie Underwood - Before He Cheats
7. Portishead - Numb
8. Rise Against - Under the Knife
9. ...
..
okay, so there was only 8 I could think of. I am still a super loser. Look at that stuff! That's pure radio top-40.
Most embarrassing hobby?
By far, my love for Dungeons & Dragons. And no, I don't mean the online-pc-game type of D&D. I mean good, old fashioned, twenty-sided die, roll-for-saving-throw Dungeons & Dragons.
My best character? A level 12 invoker/evoker (that's a mage) who's weapon was a scythe. She was super badass. Grim reaper stylee.
